Jason Day has made a solid start to be in the mix after the opening round of the Pebble Peach Pro Am.
Coming off a win in his last US PGA Tour start at Torrey Pines, the Australian world No.10 carded a three-under-par 69 on the Spyglass Hill course in California.
Former world No.1 Day mixed five birdies with two bogeys to leave himself four shots off American leaders Kevin Streelman (65, Spyglass) and Beau Hossler (65, Pebble Beach) at seven under.
Day, an 11-time US PGA Tour winner, shares 32nd with a host of players including five time major winner Phil Mickelson.
World No.1 Dustin Johnson got his tournament off to a flyer with a 67 at Spyglass Hill placing him at five under, and he shares sixth alongside leading Australian Cameron Percy (66, Monterey Peninsula Country Club).
Four-time major winner Rory McIlroy opened his US PGA Tour account for the year with a 68 at Spyglass Hill to share 16th at four under with a logjam of players including world No.2 Jon Rahm.
At Monterey Peninsula, Rod Pampling (69) is two under, while Greg Chalmers and Aaron Baddeley are one-under the card after each shot a 70.
Adam Scott, making his first competitive appearance this year, showed plenty of rust and struggled at the difficult Spyglass Hill to a five over 77 and almost at the bottom of the leaderboard.
Recent Australian winner Cameron Davis (73, Pebble Beach) and Stuart Appleby (73, Spyglass) are one over, while Sydney native Matt Jones (74, Pebble Beach) is two over.
Defending champion Jordan a Spieth shot an even-par 72.
